Chista Comes to C-Town!

Last Sunday was a day to remember!  My college roommate and her family were in the area for a family gathering and made a point to come and spend the afternoon with us.  We all had a blast catching up and watching the kids play.  The afternoon was full of…

Jonesville Race

DSC_0099

I guess you can tell by my sporadic posts that life lately has been crazy!  I really thought by this point in the school year I would be settled into a routine, but that is definitely not the case.  Mickey is still working crazy hours and we see very little of him.  Yes, it is hard, but I just keep telling myself that this too shall pass!  Anyway, with the stresses of his job I am so thankful that he is still able to make time for racing his 4-wheeler because it provides him a much-needed outlet.  To be honest, since Lydia has been born, the girls and I haven’t made it to very many races at all.  However, I was able to go to one race a few weeks ago to show my husband some support and love! It was a beautiful day at the track with my man!

Labor Day Weekend

As I have mentioned in a previous post, Mickey’s work schedule has been crazy the past few months.  While I am so thankful that he has a job that he enjoys, the girls and I miss him like crazy when we go days without seeing him (at least awake!) So, needless to say, we were all very excited when he had the entire Labor Day weekend off.  No phone calls.  No emails.  No checking the weather.  Just time to relax and enjoy our family and friends.

On Saturday we headed to Greenville to the Upstate Children’s Museum.  I’m still not sure who had the most fun… the girls or the daddy?!?! It made my heart happy to see smiles on everyone’s faces and for us to all be together. :)

On Sunday after church we spent some time resting and then headed to Grams and Pop-O’s house to swim with our besties- the Greenes!  This time was much needed as we haven’t had much time with them lately due to the addition of a precious little girl named Isabel in mid-July.  We are so blessed to have them in our lives and wouldn’t trade their friendship for anything!

We wrapped our holiday weekend with a little shopping, a cookout, and dinner with my family on Monday night.  As you can tell, we definitely made the most of every moment!  Now, when is the next 4 day weekend?  I’m already ready!

Life Lately

Life lately has been very busy! I know I am very behind on blog posts, but I am going to try to catch up over the next few days. School is back in session and between my new postion as Assistant Principal, a husband with a CrAzY work schedule, a 7 year old, and a 17 month old, I am one slightly stressed and tired mama. However, in the midst of it all I remind myself how blessed I really am. I have a job that I enjoy, a husband who works hard to provide for our family, two little girls that adore me.. even if we are having Spaghetti-Os for the 3rd night in a row, and an extended family that jumps in to help out whenever possible. I couldn't ask for anything more. This season of life may be a little crazy, but its where we are. Memories are continuing to be made so there are plenty of stories to share. Stay tuned...

Grams’ Birthday Trip to TN

IMG_0267

This year Grams decided she wanted the family to take a trip for her birthday.  She and Mackaylan had been planning to go to Pigeon Forge, TN to the Titanic Museum so they allowed the rest of the family to crash their “date!”  Unfortunately Mickey wasn’t able to go due to his demanding work schedule, but we had a fun time anyway.

We left out on Friday afternoon and had a pleasant ride up to the cabin. Aunt Betsi and Mackaylan held the fort down in the way back of the car, Lydia and I rode in the middle seats, and Pop O and Grams were our driver and navigator respectively!

Once we arrived in TN we checked into our cabin, relaxed, ate dinner, and enjoyed the amenities of our “home” for the night.

On Saturday, we spent the morning at the Titanic Museum.  It was very informative, and I loved the way they had stations and information “centers” for all ages.  It was very family friendly.  Even thought I was disappointed at first that we couldn’t take pictures in the museum it also made me happy because I was able to enjoy the making of the memory instead of being so consumed with trying to capture the perfect shots! There were only 2 things that would have made this trip better: 1- having Mick with us and 2- staying longer! However, we did enjoy every minute of our trip and being with our family.
