FFT

Last night we sat down to eat a hearty bowl of Taco Soup and corncakes when....

Mickey jumped up from the table with a bright idea!

He hopped in the car and headed to his parents to pick up 2 sleds so...

This morning we could bundle all up and enjoy some FFT doing this:

We had a great time while it lasted, but soon the snow started to melt so we headed back home.

Now that's what I call quality family time!

Project Life- Wk 3

This was the activity sheet that Mackaylan completed in church last Sunday night. When I asked her to tell me about it she said: "That is me and I am singing and dancing for Jesus!" Priceless!

We have been working through a devotion book for girls each night before bedtime. It has a verse, short story and then an activity to complete related to the story. Mackaylan loves this time together and looks forward to it each night.

On Thursday night, we had our Ladies Book Club from church. This month we each read a different book and shared it with the others. My book was The Husband Project by Kathi Lipp. If you haven't read it--go buy it now! It is 21 days of purposely lovin' on your man!

On Friday, I went with a group of teachers from my school to hear Janet Allen speak on content-area literacy. It was a very engaging seminar. During the break I had her autograph a picture book to add to Mackaylan's library.

Makaylan on her way to see Pop-O and Grams!

On Sunday morning, church was cancelled so we enjoyed some FFT (Family Fun Time) sledding in our neighborhood. It was a blast!

Sites to See

The internet is an amazing tool. Virtually anything we want to know is at our fingertips. However, there are many times when I feel like I am seeing the same sites over and over again. I get into a routine once I get online: Check my email. Visit the blog. Check to see if anyone in my blog listl has updated their blog. Login to Google Reader. Read. Check in with Twitter. Sign off. So needless to say, when I find a new site to visit it makes me happy! I just wanted to share two of my new favorite reads:

Love Actually- A site full of creative ideas for keeping romance alive. I always walk away with a new idea to keep my marriage fun and exciting!
How Does She?- This site will keep you busy reading for hours. It covers various topics from crafting to parenting to marriage to fitness. In the words of Wheezie from DragonTales, "Looooooove It!"

Happy Reading!

Project Life- Week 2

This week I decided to play with my photos a little with a site that I love, but don't use nearly enough- Picnik. It is super easy to use. All you do is upload the photo that you want to "jazz" up, play around with the various features, then save the new photo creation to your computer. Many of the features are free, but in order to to use the "premium" features you have to join the site. I haven't joined yet, but may end up doing that before the end of this project. I have Photoshop, but I have not taken the time to learn how to use it. If you have any tips, know of any tutorials, or can help me out with learning the basics of that program, please let me know. Without further delay here are my Project Life- Week 2 photos....

Project Life- Week 1

This year I have decided to participate in Becky Higgin's Project Life. The basic premise of this project is to take one picture a day for an entire year. Taking the pictures is not the challenge for me, the scrapbooking and/or journaling about each picture will be. However, with the use of Becky's kit, I am hoping to accomplish this goal. I didn't actually decide to begin until the week of January 10th. Here are my pics so far:

Sunday, January 10th we enjoyed a birthday lunch at my in-laws. Mackaylan and Pop-O had a fun time reading books by the fire.

On Monday, we announced to our faculty that our school was one of three receiving a visit from the SC Literacy Spot Award committee.

Tuesday, January 12th, Mackaylan and I had a fun time before bed writing notes to each other. She is SO excited about starting Kindergarten next year.

In April, Mackaylan will have the honor to be a flowergirl in my cousin's wedding. On Wednesday, we went to have her measured for her dress.

Mackaylan went to spend the night with Grams on Thursday. With her crown and her snuggie, she was all set! She is definitely a little princess on the go!

Mickey was at a work retreat for the last half of the week. On Friday afternoon we made a "Welcome Home" sign to hang on the door to let him know we missed him like crazy while he was away!

On Saturday, we finally took down our Christmas tree and the rest of the Christmas decor. Mackaylan was sad to see the tree go, but now that the Valentine's decor is up (and it includes lots of candy) she is a-okay!

Project Life to be continued......

D-I-S-N-E-Y W-O-R-L-D

D is for dance! Mackaylan and I both thoroughly enjoyed the HSM 3 show at Hollywood Studios.

I is for insects. We all had a fun time in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playgound.

S is for silly shot. This is how Mackaylan and I spent our time while we were waiting for the bus to take us back to our resort.

N is for uNbelievable! We all stood in awe as the castle at Magic Kingdom was lit up with thousands of Christmas lights!

E is for Epcot. On Monday we had planned to go to Magic Kingdom, but by 11:00AM they were already at capactity so we ended up at Epcot. We had a lot of fun getting pictures made with lots of characters and we all loved the Finding Nemo ride and Turtle Talk w/ Crush.

Y, of course, is for who else? MickeY Mouse.

W is for "What's next?" Over the course of our trip we became very good at navigating our way around the parks and the Fast Pass became our best friend.

O is for Grams and Pop-O. We had such a fun time sharing this experience with them! Have I ever told you that I have the best in-laws in the whole entire world?!

R is for rides.....lots and lots of rides!

L is for the lights. At Hollywood Studios they had one entire section lit up with lights. Snow was blowing and the lights were synchronized to the beat of the music. On Tuesday, we had a very long day at Magic Kingdom, but we are so glad that we stayed for the Light Parde. It was absolutely amazing!

D is for Disney characters. Mackaylan had her picture made with as many characters as possible from Maria from Aristocats to Snow White to Buzz Light Year!
As you can see, we had a fantastic time! Mackaylan is already counting the days until we can go again (and truthfully, so am I!)
