Guess What Happened?

Guess what happened this morning as we were getting ready for school?

Mackaylan lost her first tooth!!!!

Some people lose a tooth by eating crunchy foods. Some people lose a tooth because they pull it out. However, MY daughter loses her first tooth as she is pulling a shirt over her head! Go figure. After a few moments of panic and crying she settled down and even agreed to a photo shoot! LOL

We can't wait to see what the Tooth Fairy brings!

We're All Smiles....

What are we smiling about this Sunday? Our new baby cousin: Rodrick Antonio Rush Elkins, Jr. Mackaylan and Grams took a little road trip afterschool on Wednesday so Mackaylan could give him some love. Needless to say, Mackaylan was in awe! When she got home all she could talk about was how she was able to hold him and how little his feet were! It was precious! Welcome to the family, Rodrick!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for a husband who sets aside his pride and personal agenda to join his wife at a Tea Party hosted by their daughter.

Mackaylan worked so hard to set the table,

greet her guests,

serve the meal,
and even served as a photographer so we could remember the occasion!

PS If you are wondering about the glasses, they are fake (hence, the glare! lol) I have always wanted to wear glasses so when I saw this pair at Claire's I just couldn't resist. I don't wear them often, but when I do I automatically feel more sophisticated. I know, I'm weird! :)

Losin' My Mind

I am beginning to think that I am losin' my mind at a very early age. This week has been full of forgetfulness and mishaps. Here are just a few....

1- Last Saturday, Mickey, Mackaylan and I went to the Clemson vs. PC football game. As we were headed to our box seats (courtesy of Mick's work) I suddenly realized I had packed everthing into my camera bag except for the most important part-- the memory card!!

2- Multiple times throughout the week I have walked somewhere in the school building only to realize that I had totally forgotten why I was at that place or needing to see a particular person.

3- On Thursday night, I spent 10 minutes frantically searching my car for my garage door opener. I even started honking my horn in the driveway so Mickey would open the garage door for me from inside. Then, I remembered that I haven't used my garage door opener since April when we got our new car. We programmed the garage door with the controls in the car, which are permanently in the ceiling!!!!

4- Just today I thought that I lost my checkbook. I called my mom, Mickey, and searched the car up and down only to find my checkbook safely in the house in it's assigned spot.

5- And to top it off, Mackaylan and I went to a consignment sale this afternoon and I bought the wrong pair of shoes. We tried on two pairs and I put the brown pair, which we wanted, back in the basket and kept the black pair.

CRAZY!!!!!!!!

On another note, we are looking forward to a wonderful weekend. Tonight Mackaylan is headed to spend the night with Grams and Pop-O and Mickey and I will meet up with some friends at the LHS football game. Tomorrow morning I am going to return to the consignment sale for 1/2 off day and then we will spend the rest of the day with friends. We will wrap up our weekend on Sunday with church and a 4-wheeler race. It's going to be busy, but time spent with family and friends is always fun!!

Rollercoaster

Over the next few days I will experience a "TV watching emotional rollercoaster..."

One one hand I am psyched because the season premiere of 90210 will air on Monday evening at 8:00 PM. You can bet your paycheck that after I have Mackaylan settled into bed I can be found lounging on the couch watching the first episode of the new season. Thanks to DVR, I actually just watched last season's finale last week. And let me tell you.... it was a cliffhanger! I can't wait to see what happens next as Annie, Dixon, Silver, Navid, Naomi, Adrianna, Liam, Teddy and Ivy begin their senior year at Beverly Hills High School. I'm sure I won't be disappointed!

On the other hand, my favorite soap opera of all time- As the World Turns- is scheduled to air their final episode on Friday, September 17th. Let me tell you, this is devestating! I feel like Jack, Carly, Barbara, Katie, Chris, Henry and all of the other characters are my "friends." Sad, I know, but I have been watching ASTWT since I was a little girl. Even though I couldn't watch it during the school year, I would always catch up while I was home from school and during the holidays and summer vacation. And if the truth be told, the number one reason I wanted a DVR is to keep up with all the happenings in Oakdale each and everyday.

So, do you have any TV shows that you watch on a regular basis? Hopefully, I am not the only 30-something mom out there who indulges in a few shows each week that are intended for 18 year olds!?! And I didn't even mention Glee and Teen Mom. Pathetic, I know. lol

Spoiled

Tonight, thanks to my mom and dad, Mickey and I will be sleeping on a new mattress. I was hoping for their hand-me-down, but what can I say? I'm a daddy's girl!
On top of that, my wonderful Aunt Martha cooked dinner for us tonight. It was so nice to be able to come home from class and enjoy a home-cooked meal. Let me just tell you, this photo doesn't do the meal justice- IT WAS DELICIOUS! I'm always telling my Aunt Martha that I want a copy of all of her recipes, but the actual meal trumps a recipe card anyday!
And as if providing us with dinner wasn't enough, I had to call and ask for some ketchup. What can I say? Just another perk of being neighbors. :)

Yes, I know. I am spoiled.

Catch Up...

Okay, so this week has been CRAZY! Just when I thought I was over the stomach bug last Saturday, it returned!!!!! I was able to go to work on Monday, but really should have stayed home because I ended up leaving a little early anyway. It took until Wednesday to really start to feel like myself again. On top of not feeling well, I started back to school myself on Tuesday. I am taking a class on Instructional Supervision this fall and think it is going to be very beneficial. It thrills my heart to think that this time next year I will be finished with my Masters degree (and my paycheck will be a little larger! haha) Tonight was Mackaylan's first night of dance for this year. I can't believe she has been taking for three years! Her class is larger than her class last year, but she has a friend from church who is in there with her and they are on cloud 9 together. I didn't get many good shots because we were pressed for time, and many of the other moms were looking at me like I was a nut by taking pictures to begin with. Oh, well! Anyway, this weekend is looking like a weekend to do laundry, sleep, spend time with family and friends, and just relax! Mickey has been working LONG hours and I am happy that he will be have some time to catch up on his rest, and probably get a little 4-wheeler riding in as well. He deserves some time to do whatever he wants. Well, I hope you have a wonderful Friday and a great Labor Day weekend!
