This weekend started off under the Friday Night Lights! Lydia participated in Cheer Camp this summer and all of the girls had the opportunity to perform a few of their cheers at halftime of the first home game. I love our small city and the way everyone gathers together to pull for our boys! It's always great to see former students and also adult friends at the games. Many of my friends from high school still live in the area so each home game is kind of like a "homecoming" in itself.
On Saturday morning, I'm not sure what hit me, but I got up and the girls and I made a wonderful breakfast... eggs, sausage (not the frozen kind! ha), biscuits, and homemade gravy. It was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. I always love it when my gravy turns out because it reminds me so much of my Papa Huell. It was always such a treat when he would make gravy. I have so many wonderful memories of my Granny and Papa and they all come rushing back when I eat gravy! While I thought mine tasted pretty good, it was nothing in comparison to his!
On Saturday evening, we enjoyed a wonderful evening downtown at Summer Sizzle. This was a FREE event sponsored by our church and the city of Landrum to love on our community. We had hotdogs, drinks, popcorn, icees, face painting, carnival rides, jump houses, and more. We had to have people go around and put up FREE signs at all of the booths because people couldn't believe it was all free! There was also a local band that played and we had a wonderful fireworks display to conclude the night. It was amazing! I am so excited to see God at work around us and blessed that we are able to join Him in it!
Our Sunday consisted of church, lunch, LONG naps, and time as a family of four! Mickey even treated us all with a trip to Brusters to wrap up the night.
After a weekend full of family, friends, and community, I thank the Lord that we were able to stay in town and not move away. While we were looking forward to the adventure, I can't imaging not being right here right now. God is so good!
