Letters from KK

This week Mackaylan has been on a letter writing craze.  I just love it!  I often leave love notes for Mickey on the door or around the house, and sometimes I will leave them for her in her lunchbox or bag when she is away for the night so watching her take on this act of kindness makes my heart swell.  It just reiterates to me that little eyes are always watching and imitating!

This first letter is one that she wrote to Mickey and put it by the door so he would see it right when he walked in the house.  This picture was taken with my phone so it is not of the best quality, but the words are priceless.

This letter is one that Mackaylan wrote to me after she decided it was time to pull out a very loose tooth.  Evidently I take after my Granny Hayes as a champion tooth puller because I have pulled all of her teeth so far with no tears.  The picture below is proof!

Mackaylan left a note for the Tooth Fairy as well.  This note was written after a discussion about which pillow she should leave the tooth under:  the one she sleeps on or another one on her bed.  I told her I didn’t think it would matter, but she was afraid the Tooth Fairy might “give up” if the tooth wasn’t under the first pillow she looked under. Love it!

So, that is our Feature Friday! I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend.  Until next time….

Wordless Wednesday…almost

DSC_0378

Well, you know it is very hard for me to do a true Wordless Wednesday post.  What can I say?  I just love to talk.  If you know my mom then you know I get it honest! :)  Anyway, I am enjoying a great week at home with both of my girls.  It is so nice to be able to wake up and just go at our own pace.  It makes me wonder what life would be like if I stayed at home.  Would I take these moments for granted?  It’s hard to believe I would.  Loving on these two girls makes my heart full.  It reminds me of my greatest calling in life- motherhood.

It’s Summer!!

DSC_0309-1

May 30, 2011.  The first “unofficial” day of summer.  With temperatures in the high 90’s this week we are sure to be spending a lot of time by the pool.  The rest of this summer promises day trips to places like the zoo and local parks, along with escapades to the movies, the mall, nearby waterparks, and our local library.  The calendar also holds a week of vacation to the  beach, a well-anticipated visit from out-of-town friends, my cousin’s wedding, my mother-in-law’s birthday, and my graduation!  There are lots of memories to be made.  Let the fun begin!!

Showcase Sunday

I mentioned last week that each Friday I was going to feature one of Mackaylan’s writings from the week.  Well, as you well know, Friday has come and gone and I am just now getting around to it, but that’s life!  On Wednesday morning before Mackaylan left for school she sat down and wrote this poem about Kindergarten Graduation:

Graduation

Graduation is almost here

and there may be a lot of tears,

but I will see you again soon.

So I guess it’s time to say good-bye

and I will miss you too,

but you know like I said before

I will see you again soon.

Enjoy these highlights from Mackaylan’s K5 graduation ceremony!

Happy Sunday!

A Very Important Week

This is a very important week around our house.  It’s a week of finales:

and

{{{{{{{{DRUM ROLL}}}}}}}}

Mackaylan will graduate from Kindergarten and her first year of school will come to an end.  A finale.  An end to one thing, but the beginning of many others.

It seems just like yesterday I was rocking this little girl to sleep, singing her lullabies, and kissing her sweet toes.  Time sure does fly.  Today we are cuddled on the couch watching Oprah.  Tomorrow night it will be American Idol.  My little girl is growing up…
