Savannah, GA

This past weekend Mickey and I spent two nights in Savannah, GA. Friday night was Mickey's company Christmas party, and we decided to stay Saturday night to have some time alone- just the two of us. This holiday season has been very busy, but we have tried to be intentional about making memories. This weekend was just that! :)

We stayed at the Westin Resort which was right on the Savannah River. When we arrived at the check-in desk we were informed that we had a room with 2 full beds. Really? For our romantic weekend getaway?!? However, Mickey was able to work his magic and we received a free upgrade to a King room! This was the view from our window.

The company Christmas party began around 7:00PM. This was a pic we had someone snap in the lobby of the hotel before heading upstairs to dinner. We had assigned seats at dinner and two of the other couples at our table were expecting as well. It's a small world, huh?

On Saturday morning, we woke up to the sound of a horn blowing. When we looked out the window we were both mesmerized by the huge ship coming through to unload at one of the ports. Some wake-up call!

After getting ready, we took the ferry across the river to eat breakfast.

We ate breakfast at a neat little cafe. The food was delicious, but we both agreed that it was a little over priced. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the morning sipping hot chocolate, talking, and enjoying being together!

After breakfast we walked around downtown a little. Mickey is a pretty big history buff so he enjoyed reading many of the historical landmarks while I snapped pictures. It was rainy and cold so we cut our morning adventure short and returned to the room for some R&R. :)

On late Saturday afternoon, we decided to take one of the trolley tours in order to see the entire city. Our guide was wonderful. He had actually grown up in Savannah so he had lots of personal stories to share. Mickey and I were both amazed at all of the movies that had been shot in the city, and the history is just amazing!

For dinner we ate at Paula Deen's restaurant, Lady & Son's. It was absolutely amazing! We both enjoyed the buffet in order to indulge in some down-home southern cooking! And yes, the gooey butter cake was to die for! Yum-o!!

As you can see, we had a wonderful weekend away. It was nice to relax, reconnect, and rejuvenate! It is so neat to think that we have been married for 8 years (together for more than 12), yet we still love being together and enjoy each other's company! I am so blessed!

Good-bye, Savannah. Thanks for the memories!

Until next time....
