"Horse country." A nickname given to the area in which we live in the upstate. Every spring there is a BIG horse race in our town called the Block House Steeplechase. People from all over the southeast flock to the area fornrhis event. It's like our own little Kentucky Derby. Tailgating. Floppy hats. Sundresses. Fun. This year our small town celebrated this event with a horse parade through town featuring the Budweiser Clydesdale Horses!! People came and lined the streets from near and far. Traffic was backed up onto the interstate trying to get into town! So much so that the Clydesdales were a bit late to the event because they couldn't get get through. Needless to say, It was crazy fun!
We usually always watch parades at my parents, but for this one we watched with Mackaylan's friends uptown.
Before the parade began, you could go to the designated area to see the horses up close.
Along the way we stopped for froyo!
I couldn't believe all of the people. I knew it was going to be crowded, but was not expecting thousands of folks! It was quite a task to eat an icecream cone, push a stroller, and try to weave our way through the crowd, especially with a group of giddy 10 year olds.
Small town living. I wouldn't trade it for the world!
BTW... Thank you, Kim for letting me use your pics of the Clydesdales. Of course my phone died right when the parade started! ;)
